Product Introduction

E7018 Iron Powder Low-Hydrogen Potassium Covered Electrode – All-Position, High-Deposition Efficiency

Designed for welding carbon steel and low-alloy steel structures such as Q345 and 16Mn, the JL-J506Fe / E7018 is an iron powder basic low-hydrogen potassium covered electrode. It is usable with AC or DC+ and can perform all-position welding. The electrode provides good welding process performance, good arc stiffness, low spatter, easy slag removal, attractive bead appearance, high deposition efficiency, and good mechanical properties.

Key Features

Iron Powder Low-Hydrogen Potassium Basic Coating

The iron powder low-hydrogen potassium basic coating improves deposition efficiency and helps reduce the number of welding layers. The low-hydrogen character also supports good mechanical properties and crack resistance in structural welds.

High Deposition Efficiency

Because the coating contains iron powder, the electrode can deposit more metal per unit time and reduce the number of welding layers, improving productivity.

Stable Arc, Low Spatter, and Easy Slag Removal

It provides a stable arc, good arc stiffness, low spatter, and easy slag removal, which support clean welds and efficient operation.

Attractive Bead Appearance and Good Process Performance

The electrode produces a good bead appearance and offers good all-position welding process performance, making it suitable for general structural fabrication.

AC/DC Dual Use and All-Position Welding Capability

The JL-J506Fe / E7018 can be used with AC or DC+ power and is suitable for all-position welding. This provides flexibility in power source selection and supports welding of carbon steel and low-alloy steel structures in various positions.

Operating Notes

  1. Before welding, the electrode must be baked at 350–380°C for 1 h and used as soon as it is baked.
  2. Before welding, remove rust, oil, moisture, and other impurities from the workpiece.
  3. Use short-arc operation; weaving amplitude should not be too large; narrow bead welding is preferred.
  4. To prevent arc-start porosity, use a run-on plate for arc starting or use the arc-return method.

Ideal For

Welding of carbon steel and low-alloy steel structures, such as Q345, 16Mn, and similar strength-grade steels. Suitable for structural fabrication, machinery, ships, bridges, and general welding where low-hydrogen electrodes are required.
